Hi guys!

My name is Lena Hayes and I am one of your beloved writers at college fashio! I am currently a sophomore studying Marketing and Psychology at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

Besides being interested in fashion, one of my favorite things to do in my free time is to explore different types of music. Music has always been a huge part of my life. I started off in choir as a cantor for my church when I was in fifth grade and fell in love with performing. I continued to participate in choir, band, and theater throughout all of high school and still perform in choir and band ensembles on campus! Currently, my favorite artists are Brandi Carlile, Father John Misty, and Greta Van Fleet, but to be honest, my music tastes change with the weather.

Another hobby of mine is the outdoors - I love hiking and exploring nature. I am an avid angler and even spent a month portaging (hiking with a canoe) across the Boundary Waters of Canada!

I also enjoy being active. Trying to balance college stress (and food) and staying healthy can be a bit of a challenge at times. I was an athlete in high school, lettering in track & field, volleyball, tennis, as well as competing in synchronized swimming and wrestling. Being a student athlete taught me the value of quality clothing that provides flexibility and support for active movement, while also helping you look great.

Similar to my music tastes, my style of fashion can be a bit eclectic, which reflects my quirky personality. I have been dressing up in crazy outfits since I can remember (and my mom has photographic proof). I love finding unique and bold clothing items from thrift and resale shops but also appreciate classics like a little black dress or mom jeans.

Fashion brings me joy because it is an expression of who you are and how your feel each day. Some days I just want to wear a big comfy sweater and leggings, but other days you might see me wearing blue lipstick and a colorful outfit. No matter what, my style reflects my need for functionality. My experiences with athletics and outdoors wear have taught me the value of well fitting clothing that allows for you to move. If the clothes prevent me from being able to spontaneously high kick or goof off, then they're not for me.

I would describe myself as outgoing and very friendly.

I love helping people, which is why I am so excited to create posts that help my fellow broke college students find affordable fashion hacks. I hope that with this blog, I can offer style and fashion tips that help you to best reflect your unique and authentic self without breaking the budget. If you’re someone who worries about the impact your consumerism has on the environment, I can give tips for maximizing your clothing and finding creative methods of repurposing the pieces you already own, while also sticking to a college student’s budget. I am super excited to grow with my readers and produce helpful content that reaches a diverse audience. Get ready for a great time!
